Six students from Hieu Phung Secondary School in Vinh Long Province, led by IT teacher Nguyen Van Giau, have developed an innovative automatic rice disease detector. The system addresses a major concern for farmers: how to effectively detect and control rice diseases.
The system uses cameras installed in rice fields to take regular pictures. These images are uploaded to the cloud and analysed using Scratch AI. This analysis helps identify potential diseases and suggests appropriate treatment chemicals.
While the system is currently limited in the number of diseases it can detect, the students aim to expand its capabilities to include a wider range of rice and fruit tree diseases in the future. This project has the potential to become a valuable tool for assisting farmers, improving crop health and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
